So therefore a keeper can never be given man of the match because his saves are “just doing his job”. Arnt all players then just doing their jobs regardless of position?

It was an odd thing to say for sure especially when you add in the comment about the timing. At 2-0, saves are pretty important considering we went straight up the pitch and scored the 3rd which we definitely needed the way we finished the game.

The correct man won the MotM award anyway, surely two goals and an assist when your team scores three, trumps, one great save, one good save and an alert piece of keeping when Naylor gave the ball away first half.

Macallum was offside and the lino flagged as soon as he headed it.
It was a replica of the move when Tyrer pulled off a great save to thwart the other striker.

No. What I'm saying is that because Tyrer made a couple of crucial saves (which is the main job of a goalkeeper, to keep the ball out of the net) doesn't qualify him to be MOTM. Now, if he'd made save after save after save before setting up the attack that we scored from, then yes he should get the MOTM.
But Banks was on a different level on Saturday. He bridged the gap between the midfield and Grigg perfectly, won headers in both attacking & defending, closed their defenders down causing them into errors and scored twice. Banks went that little bit extra than any other player on the pitch. I get that my OP didn't quite explain my point which was my bad.

Goal keepers and midfielders are different animals - answer this one, there was one goal in it in the end which of the two performances were critical.
