No, never really bothered tbh. Also the main area where they would be is south facing. Real sun trap and would be too warm.

Correct you never place boxes south facing

Not sure if I?ve asked you this before but have you got the Merlin Bird ID app? Superb for hearing and identifying all the bird song.

I do. However bird song do change. Bird song changed and became much quieter during the pandemic. They also have dialects. They sound different when mating and when raising young. So the app is a good at recognising the average song but not the little variations. I can visually recognise most birds but the song is a little more difficult for me. Quality of your hearing plays a large part also

I've now got a pair of Jay's and a woodpecker ( in all my 56 yrs I'd never seen one in the flesh/feathers) coming to my feeders regularly now.

Well chuffed.

Occasional hear, but less frequently see both spotted and green woodpeckers, green very rarely, on the five pits trail between Blackwell and Tibshelf ponds

So hard to spot when they're in the trees.. heard them plenty rattling away with their beaks, but just never been able to spot one, so to get one on the fat balls is a proper treat.

Green Woodpeckers very rarely drum on trees as they a weak bill. Male Greater Spotted Woodpeckers are the ones you hear drumming
