As someone pointed out on X -
Jarrod Bowen 43 games 20 goals 10assist
Cole palmer 39 games 24 goals 13 assist
So he?s going with form.

I guess the unlucky one is Branthwaite, many suggesting that if Maguire had been fit Branthwaite may have gone, but he?s gone with Dunk and Gomes as they have more experience (at Club level at least)

The inclusion of Shaw worries me, obviously our best left back but if his fitness fails us, I can?t see the obvious replacement there.

Overall the squad has some mouthwatering forward players and a defence that worries me. Will Southgate adopt the Paul Cook 2023/24 approach to games?

The inclusion of Dunk over Branthwaite is my only quibble with the squad. Left footed CB who could've slotted into Maguire's spot, commanding in the air, had a fantastic season and plays club football with Pickford... seems a no brainer to keep him in the squad, especially now Maguire isn't going. Also wouldn't have minded Mitchell coming in at LB if Shaw isn't fit. Besides that, I think Southgate got the calls right.

Yep, disappointed with Branthwaite not getting a slot. He's had a cracker of a season

Personally I would have kept Grealish and Branthwaite and binned Dunk and Gordon!

Time will tell...

Its almost like he?s making these decisions in order to prove he can make the big calls. And some may Champion the omission of Maguire, even though he’s injured, like the commentator has just said, he’s a massive miss on set pieces.

I would have kept Branthwaite as for Grealish no he either goes sideways or backwards not fir ne. Gordon more direct and a better option.

No end product. A struggle to breakdown packed defences.

Pretty much agree with how Southgate?s gone, other than the Braithwaite/Dunk selection.

However, just heard that our only left footed defender out of eight selected hasn?t kicked a ball in anger since early February and isn?t expected to be fit ( fit, not necessarily match for ) til the second game of the tournament.

Can you imagine the reaction of that was Town?

I?d imagine the whole of the non Man Utd supporting world hope that Southgate is in line for the old Trafford job post Euros, because this manager is both clueless and dire about in equal measure!

Errrrr....

Grealish has more talent in his toenail than his replacement... and your footballing knowledge is a constant!

This tournament will be another glorious opportunity missed again with negative Gareth in charge! I only hope I will be swallowing my words in 6 weeks time but can't see it....

Ivan toney has had a word with the squad, gottem to put in a couple of dire displays, so he gets better odds on them winning the lot.. 🤣
all we are saying, is give us ...a goal, or 2+

It means an England Cap for every player that gets on the pitch.

A Cap which they can proudly show their friends, relatives, children and grandchildren.

So, I expect them to put in enough effort to earn that Cap.

Then, again, it shows just how easy it is to earn a Cap nowadays compared to years ago.

Well put in this way Pep doesn't rate him and he's not a bad judge. Massively overrated show pony.

That?s probably the excuse they?ll give if they lose. If they were winning it would be all smiles and back slapping. It?s rubbish this. Most of the player?s names I don?t recognise because I got fed up with watching chit and stopped watching any football bar CFC.Its like watching National league with one team parking the bus and the other team trying to walk it in. Have a shot for goodness sake.
