The manner in how we qualified does not generate confidence for the knockout phase

I'll wait until the next game has actually taken place before judging the manager and players. They've achieved precisely what they needed to achieve so far; the time to start an inquest is when they actually fail to get any further in the competition.

Are the players of Spain, and for that matter Georgia, any better individually than ours? They aren't, so how come they can play, fast, attacking football that's an absolute pleasure to watch? We all know the answer to that one, and Southgate can win everything in sight for me, but he still can't even begin to produce teams capable of the Spanish level of entertainment because it just isn't the way his mind works. He looks terrified all the time, never smiles, and his negative mind-set communicates itself to the players.

No the inquest needs to be starting now, actually even earlier because we have been beyond awful, our performances have been a total shambles and it’s only by the luck of the draw that we’ve progressed, and it needs to be sorted out asap. Talk about sweeping th e problem under the carpet.

They look well coached. Highly motivated and have the freedom to express themselves. Try things without being afraid of making mistakes. They are the polar opposite of England. Yamal is a phenomenon.

Did you have to Google the spelling or did you refer to the medicinal cream?
Derbyshire is Derbyshire
Yorkshire is Yorkshire

Never the twain shall meet.

Maybe Southgate thinks his job is to WIN first and entertain second.

Hopefully then, we will see more long throw ins and engineering of set pieces. Cos the possession football we are attempting is creating zero.

Whilst we have stumbled into the next round we have been forced to play are best players for every minute of every game. We came into the tournament with lots of knackered players and many of those players will now be even more knackered.
Foden was absolutely woeful tonight with the set pieces. He had at least 7 corners and 4 free kicks and only one of them created a genuine chance. We really can't be that wasteful when it comes to set pieces.

Only if you count getting to the quarter finals as 'zero'. In knockout competitions all that matters is the final result, not how well you play. I seem to remember us outplaying Notts County at Wembley and losing the game.

I?m talking about the chances we created to score and win the game. Zero from creative football and two from NL level game plan.

His problem is that he thinks the two are mutually exclusive. They aren't.

Of course they aren't necessarily mutually exclusive, but if your aim is to win a competition rather than a beauty contest, results are more important than style of play. Perhaps you'd prefer points to be awarded, as in ice dancing, for artistic impression. Personally, I'll go along with the idea that the team that sticks the ball in the opposition net most often is the winner.

If we carry on in the same manner, we'll get turned over for sure. The Charles Charlie Charles idea of strolling around the park and passing between the back four is a surefire way of bringing on a disaster.
