It isn?t VAR it is the interpretation of the rules and not just handball.
I agree with the commentators, time to go bank to basics, in the case of the handball; was it deliberate, then worry about all the other considerations
The officials are so pedantic about getting it wrong, that they can't see the wood for the trees. For me,get rid of it, because it's not being used for what it was designed for. A clear and obvious error isn't an offside call which relies on minutes of looking into a monitor. It's killing the game in my opinion. -

On the other hand Italy look ponderous and pedestrian.
You see where I'm going, here...
😁 We can, hopefully the England set up can too. -

Well, England are playing tomorrow and I just hope we're up for it. Whether you like Southgate or not, it's down to the nitty gritty now. He can't afford to sit back, and the players need to fight for each other.
Us, as fans, need to believe that the manager, and the team he picks, can get it right and show what this England team is all about. Can he afford to play Foden and Bellingham together or Trippier at left back. However we set up and whoever plays, I just hope they make the country proud. -

Southgate summed up perfectly last night.
Start a RB at LB ( again ) when he?s quite blatantly a RB and is struggling at LB when you?ve got a player on the bench that has played LB at Liverpool last season.
LB needs to come off so you move you?re best RB out of position over to cover LB and bring a player on who you?ve been trying to shoehorn into the side in midfield because you think ( Southgate said this ) that he struggles defensively at RB and won?t play him there.
So you finish with your best RB at LB, your RB is now a player you think struggles defensively and Joe Gomez sat thinking he might be there just to make up the numbers.
My mind was a boggle when he moved Walker over to the left. Trent Alexander Arnold fitted in ok at right back last night, but as you have said the change shouldn't have been Trent, but Gomez for Trippier.
Why has he even took Shaw, because it's obvious he isn't fit to play, is he on Southgate's quiz team or something? -

I want England to win of course, but if it meant Southgate was sacked I?d take an exit at the next stage. You could imagine the loonies in charge at the FA extending his contract if we scrape through on penalties and end up in the semi finals again.
I've no doubt you're right mate, but this squad is excellent and should be capable of winning this if they're allowed to play, but will the manager let them? Let's hope he picks an attacking team and plays attractive football for the next match. I don't think he knows his best team for whichever match we're playing.
