Ian Wright? Ffs

So, as far as England?s performances to date, there is not one ex player, ex manager, current manager, football journalist?s opinion that you agree with, but you want us to go with yours?

Ian Wright is a thoroughly decent guy who expresses perfectly rational opinions on the game. You really do have the strangest opinions.

I?m not expecting anyone to go with mine! It?s an opinion - that?s the beauty - it?s what a person thinks not what everyone should think - you get that don?t you?

I don?t agree but that?s the beauty of opinions- we are all entitled to one

But you will understand why your opinion is dismissed so readily on here?

I?d wager his views carry more weight than yours.

He?d probably look at the town fans at Stamford bridge and be unlikely to say look at them sat glum and not celebrating the goal even though they are losing, must a a new low for the club
A new hope.

You?re probably right.

Bit of a weird pile on though.
Just because I don?t agree with the hate of Southgate (as we are currently sat happily in the QF again of a results based tournament)- but if it titillates you carry on

Hate Southgate?

Bit strong don?t you think?

Good man management breeding a one for all culture in the national team rather than previous club cliques, tactically poor, defensive and lacks the ability to change mid game when things aren?t working out for sure - but hate?

Nah
A new hope.

How could you hate poor old Gareth? He?s got us into the Euro quarter finals you know! (With an attacking force of world class players, playing unconvincingly in every match, with dire tactics).

I will stick with the notion that we currently progress in spite of GS rather than because of him.

Cool - I?ll stick with the notion that the most qualified man in English football currently is doing his job rather than random geezers who watch a Sky game a month

You're not wrong.

Gareth alluded to it post match. It's a special kind of tactical genius that brings on a striker whilst one-nil down in the knockout stages with one minute of time added on remaining.

Visionary.

We totally dominated that game, we struggled to make decent chances against a well organised defence, just as Portugal have...

England progressed due to the brilliance of one world class moment. Not because of Southgate.

His tactical awareness is shocking, his team selection has been appalling and his decision making diabolical.

The team look leggy, unfit, there is a lack of press, a lack of movement when our defence has the ball and no width or getting behind the oppositions defences.

Now I could understand this as a one-off, but this is 5 games in a row now, one prior to the Euros, and 4 at them. He has done nothing to change this, it clearly isn't working and needs to be addressed before the next game as Switzerland looked superb in their last game. If the both teams play as they did in their previous game then Switzerland are heavy favourites and will fancy their chances to spank us.

If he plays the same formation again with the same starting 11, expect the same dull boring game and defensively minded tactics, lack of urgency and few substitutions.

His record against the world's top 10 teams is abysmal. I will post it below.

If we do the bare minimum and replace Guehi with Konsa then we will almost certainly lose on Saturday. The Swiss relish playing against a back 4, and we cede possession to teams who play 3 at the back (see our dour performances vs Serbia & Denmark). IMO, Southgate needs to be radical and change the system like he did against Germany in 2021, so changing to 3 at the back with wingbacks. Walker, Stones and Konsa as CB's, Trent or Trippier RWB... don't know about LWB, maybe Saka could do it? Far from ideal but I thoroughly believe we will lose if we go with our sterile, static 4-2-3-1 again.

There are plenty of people with the same qualifications as Southgate, but what?s Southgate?s footballing philosophy because from the outside looking in nobody has a clue??how many other nations managers have no real style of play
ITS NOT THE WINNING,ITS THE TAKING APART
