Barrie has had a lot of criticism on this board over the years, but he was always a Spireite at heart, unlike the current incumbent. He also put his hands in his pocket in one of our darkest hours to save us, 1983. God rest your soul, Barrie - we have a lot to thank you for.

Yep got to agree with that ,not always a fans favourite but he was a TRUE Spireite

Boyhood fan of the team, and it shone through all his interaction with the club, truly passionate about the Spireites.
I recall when he oversaw the forbear of Blues on the Move, he told us all it would help build a new stadium at Saltergate. We couldn't see it, and didn't believe him, and of course it never materialised. But you could never fault his passion. RIP Barrie.

Took a lot of criticism but a stalwart during very difficult times and was able to keep the club's finances in check when in charge.

Thanks Barrie RIP

Like many Spireites I'm truly grateful to Barrie Hubbard for the great work and effort he put into our club especially during a difficult period of its history.
The Proact stadium provides a fitting memorial to his achievement, RIP Barrie. A proper Spireite.

The club should honour him and re-name the east stand after him at the very least. Without him I doubt we would be there. RIP Barrie... thanks for all you did for CFC.

God rest your soul Mr H. I remember bumping into him, shaking his hand and thanking him for all he'd done for the club. He looked genuinely taken aback. A Spireite through and through.

I remember at one of the last AGM's at the Olde House, BH said, we (the Directors) aren't rich people, we don't have a lot of money between us, but what money we do have, we try and support this football club the best we can. A truly great comment.

I'll echo what others have said about Barrie stepping up in our hour of need, but one of his best masterstrokes has to be the appointment of Roy McFarland as manager.

A sad day, RIP Mr. Hubbard and condolences to his wife, Janet & family.
