I really agree with you on Downes, I'm just not sure if he will develop into the excellent defender he will obviously become in time for next season. I was really impressed with Chief last season; I thought his battling qualities and experience were absolutely vital to us. I'd love to think he could do it for another season, but I'm not sure his fitness will allow it; maybe he'll do the same job, but just have to play fewer games.

Any chance that quality crosses coming in from at least one flank, coutesy of Mr Hall will improve the Chief's productivity in front of goal next season? I know how much great work he does for the team, but as a forward he would surely like to register a few more times in the next campaign.

Fingers crossed!

With you on that McG,I'm cautiously optimistic about Paul Hall,I think he'll be good for us and provide a bit of nous in the midfield (well on the right wing).Allott in the middle could be good.

He spent all last season playing with his back to goal. I can't recall to many occasions when quality crosses came into the box for him to attack. I'd bet my mortgage on him scoring more next season (appearances permitting).

Actually due to the frequency of your posts I thought you sometimes posted at various times.
Whats the betting if Paul Hall had signed for, say, Brentford today you would have posted negativeness straight away.

Here`s a formula for all you maths buffs out there:-

No News or bad news = 25+ posts perday from fishini.
Good news or pleasent news = dramatically reduced posts from fishini.

Told you all before......joke

Well one thing is for sure, this may be a new board but it looks like the theme, of you two heading towards a handbag fight at every opportunity will continue. Use PM for the one upmanship and petty squabbling

Dr late but saw the news early - Great signing and a Quality, quality player with real 'Top level' experience.

How did we manage to sign him?

Still can't believe it - quality!

I can't believe your not giving Aaron Downes a chance before the season has even to start,ok he has made a couple of mistakes but christ premiership players make mistakes.

Downes is currently playing for his country and the reports i have read he is doing great,so give the lad a chance.

We have 2 players in Downes and O'Hare who can fill in for Evatt and some ppl want to bring in new,we need other areas to be filled and on our budget we can't afford to be choosy,i'm sure Roy will be coaching Downes so give the guy a chance,i think he will come good,he needs a run in the first team and i hope he gets that run come August.

Yea give the lad a chance wasnt the majority getting on:

O'Hare's back when he started his carreer here
Evatt when he played poor at centre mid

its Downes turn to be given some time to become a regular at the back. it makes the players fight for posistion. If downes didnt want to be here he wouldnt have extended his contract he wants to prove himseld and he will

We currently dont have a new player, so that cant be relied upon.

Logan has to prove himself off the pitch and only has a short term contract untill he proves otherwise.

Smith is only a baby and cannot be expected to play the entire season without some slip ups and injuries.

Niven excellent player and gives his all but shall we say his passing needs to be worked on.

Hall getting on a bit but an excellent signing.

Why drop Allott possibly the most talented footballer at Chesterfield?

depends, who the new player is. If we get one.

Then see who plays best with who, before deciding who was dropped. But of course i dont get to see them in training like the manager does.

Whats your rationale for dropping Allott?
