Not a chance I’d like them to change the kit from blue to red and white stripes, or completely disrespect the history of the club, what it means to the town and the local population.
I’d rather have my club playing in blue and white in the bottom two divisions. Winning L2 now and then, occasionally troubling the L1 play offs… the odd cup run.
Maybe that’s just me but watching town is much much more than just watching a winning side - if that’s all it was then I’d buy a city shirt and subscribe to sky sports.
You say that but up until relatively recently we'd spent more seasons playing in 'non-blue' home shirts than we had in all blue home shirts (depending when you believe the club was formed!) including lengthy spells with vertical Blue/White stripes and in all Red!

I’ve been watching since the late 70s and we’ve always played in blue for our home shirts.

We've played in blue home shirts since 1945 (although we did play in white shirts for 5 home games in 1972.
We had 7 seasons in blue and white stripes and 4 seasons in red shirts. Hardly lengthy spells.
1987 was the season we had wore blue shirts more than the others. 36 years ago is hardly relatively recently.

That would have been Rangers at home

Aswell as the Rangers game we also played in red shirts and black shorts in a 1-0 home win against Peterborough in the 1983/84 season , Les Hunter scoring the goal past a certain David Seaman !

One special night. And the rest of the season, apart from rangers, what home shirts did we play in?

I’ve been specific in my earlier post, it does say ‘on one special occasion’. Now that is straight forward even in Warfy’s classroom.

18 season in blue/white stripes.
What about the 11 seasons in all white shirts?
3 seasons in Black/White stripes?
Then there is the spattering of others like green/white stripes? Villa style claret/blue, union jack shirts, all black shirts?
So, even by your calcs that's 121 years before blue became our dominate colour, if that's not relatively recently then I'm not sure what is lol

You need a new calculator.
Formed in 1866
Wore Blue constantly since 1945 and for seven seasons in the 20's
That's a total of 85 years out of 157.
And constantly (bar 5 home games) for 78 years.
If 1944 is recent you must be about 300 years old to think that.

Taking your figures we’ve worn blue for 85 out of 157 years? So that means 10 years ago we’d worn Blue 75 out of 147.
That means that as recent as 10 years ago Blue wasn’t our most common home colour, making my original statement correct.
Unless you don’t consider 10 years ago relatively recently??

I asked someone in the know as to why Tahn wore red that day against The Posh .. To this day I’m sure he said the red shirts had been used less ( obviously ) and the Yellow “Coalite” was much brighter and clearer than on the blue . As the games’ match day sponsor was Coalite I believed him
As Tim Vine once ( or 100s of times ) said … You invented Tippex, correct me if I’m wrong

I get your thinking but you're forgetting that we didn't have a club for 45 years so it's not 157 years it's 112 seasons that we've played, wearing blue for 85 of those seasons, so we passed the point of wearing blue more seasons than not 27 years ago.
