IMO we need Sam Curran back fighting fit, it would be unfair on Potts to drop him though after a phenomenal debut so we're back to either Broad or Anderson dropping out, much as I hate the idea of the 2 best bowlers we've ever produced in terms of wickets taken not being there or do we take a batsman out to accommodate them both? I'd still prefer Dom Bess to get the spinner slot if Jack Leach is not available as he can add a bit of batting to the tail. Key, Stokes and McCullum have some pondering to do to try and get the balance of the side right.
Battingwise we still haven't got a solid opening 3 as I dislike Alex Lees standing so far over to the off side it's ridiculous, as not only is his leg stump exposed, the middle stump is as well, one ball on his legs to cramp him up and he's a goner. I'm wondering if we're missing a trick and not getting Bairstow to open with Crawley (who I've got my doubts about as well but he's Key's man from Kent as he was waxing lyrical about him before his selection in the Sky box). The other option is give the gloves back to Bairstow and drop Foakes (not that he's done anything wrong mind you) to accommodate the second all-rounder.

We do miss Geoffreys comments. What would he make of recent eccentric openers. Like you say, Lees main aim appears to obscure 2nd and 3rd slips view
While Burns appeared be controlled by an alcoholic puppeteer. Who the f... advises them?
Geoffrey comments would be, well interesting.

I've got Day 1 and 2 at Headingley, always a good day at the cricket up there. Good to see Trent Bridge getting a test too, doesn't seem to happen too often nowadays, might just be me that!

It didn’t in the last Ashes series, which miffed a lot of English players because they have a good record there against the Aussies.

Ignoring 2020 & 2021, the only years without since 1998 have been 2019, 2016, 2009 and 1999 going back to then.
Off to Derby shortly, hopefully we'll show up this time....

We are day 3, on Saturday. Blinking rail strikes have put a bit of a dampener on events though, as we now have to drive to Leeds. Fortunately my niece lives within sight of the ground and we can borrow her driveway!

We're looking at the same, wanting to park somewhere for a couple of days and fetch the car on the Sat. Trains look iffy at best for Friday too.

I think they were saying on TMS that it may have happened with two other batsmen, can't remember the names.
Pleased I went to the first day of thin gruel rather than yesterday!

Barstow should be fun now.
