But for all their star status failing to put away opponents as we did last night.
Espana still head and shoulders above everyone in terms of quality football so far...

France have pace all over the pitch as well. Can?t believe how good Kante still is.

The ball brushed his hand, apparently without any intent on his part, and with no influence on its trajectory - the sort of thing that might happen 50 times in any game of football. If we're going down that road in addition to VAR the game will become unwatchable. No referee in his right mind would have disallowed the goal on the evidence of his own view and experience.

Correct. Not a single person in the stadium or watching live on TV even had an inkling of a handball. It's an absolute nonsense that football has been whittled down to this microscopic, joy sapping farce.

Yet Austria are denied a clear corner ( should have scored though ) with the keeper making a good save, clear as a bell on the replays shown but the ref gives a goal kick and a couple of minutes later France score.
Ok, it didn?t immediately impact the goal but fact is it was clearly the incorrect decision to give a goal kick and if the corner had been awarded, everything after would have been different.
We are scrutinising certain things to within an inch of their lives but completely ignoring stuff like this which was a clear and obvious error.

It used to drive me barmy with some of the decisions or lack of, from the officials in the National League, but at least we didn't have to endure endless pausing of the game, apart from when Cookie was being booked 😆.

IMO VAR should only be used when the ref calls for it.
Just my preference.

There?s also been at least one glaring example of a player claiming he?s been elbowed or barged in the head when he hasn?t.. Retrospective action required.

Isn't that the point of VAR? To spot the things fans \ ref may miss. Don't get me wrong I'm fundamentally not in favour of VAR but the rules are The rules.the correct descion was made.

Its to clear up clear and obvious errors but then its the realms of what is clear and obvious. A miniscule handball that needs a microchip in a ball and a rip off of snickometer from cricket to pick up and in the scheme of things didnt effect anything is probably not where it should be used when a few hours later a clear incorrect goal kick decision isnt looked at when all it takes is the VAR official to quickly tell the guy over his earpiece that it was clearly a corner.
A decision for a goal kick\corner is one or the other and it such clear decisions like last night it should be amended. Had the right decision not been made then play goes on differently and likely the goal that followed isnt scored.

As opposed to VAR completely getting it WRONG when the evidence shows that.

Then everyone would be complaining that we have the technology to tell the ref that his missed something and we don't use it

It will never come in but I would do what they do in cricket. Give the captain 3 VAR reviews. the onus is then on the players. Job done

Didn?t realise there was any beef between them.
Superb game of football that was, great goals and loads of chances. Shame for Georgia, chasing the game, hit the post and then cleared off the line at the death before Turkey ran one in with all 11 Georgia players up field.
